Parting gifts

Hello Peeps,

The last few weeks have made it clear again how fast kids grow up. On Monday my eldest son had his last practice day at the primary school my daughter already goes to. He loves it.

On Tuesday  he had his third swimming lesson. Eventhough his birthday wasn’t until the week after that. You see he had always gone to baby/toddler swimming lessons and since he was done with those too, he got to take the next step here as well.

He also had his last day at the daycare center on Tuesday so they celebrated that fact along with his birthday on that day. He wore his birthday crown all day and enjoyed being the center of attention throughout the day. For us, it was the perfect moment to thank the teachers. They are partly responsible for who he is because of what they offer him and do for him. We are so proud of our little man and so incredibly gratefull for the teachers at the daycare center.

The box we made at StampEvent, is what I recreated another 5 times for the teachers. I filled them with Ferrero Rocher chocolates because the ladies are worth their weight in gold.

The base of the box was a sheet of Thick Whisper White cardstock. By following the same instructions as at StampEvent it was easy to assemble the boxes quickly. I decorated some of the boxes with Bermuda Bay cardstock, ink and Shimmer Ribbon (which I had left over from Sale-a-bration) and with the Springtime Foils paper (also left over from Sale-a-bration) and Silver Foil Sheet.Others I made in Calypso Coral. For those I chose the Springtime Foils cardstock with the rose gold dots and combined it with some toner cardstock which I foiled with some rose gold foil using my Minc. The ribbon I used is by Stampin’ Up but was retired years ago and is no longer available. Because I don’t have the same punches as we used during StampEvent, I improvised and used my CreaLies XXL Nest Circle Dies. Some magnets are hidden in between the different circles in order to close the box. I used the following stamp sets to decorate the white circles. The sentiments are from In De Bloemetjes Zetten, the solid heart is from Jar Of Love and the line drawing of het heart is from Coffee Cafe.

By now my son has been in school for a week. He goes with such enthousiasm and always comes home cheerfully.  He has settled in well and was clearly ready for this next step in his life.

Who would you like to give a gift like this to? And why? I look forward to reading about it in the comment section below.

Springtime Foils workshop

Posted on

Hello Peeps,

Last Sunday was the day of my ‘coffee and a card’-workshop featuring the Springrime Foils cardstock. The participants, though not great in number, they were in their enthousiasm, each made two cards.

Celebrate

First of all the Celebrate card. This is based on a card I came across on Pinterest. In my opinion the leaves-pattern was even better suited to it than the patterns used in the example. By just following the line of the branch with a pair of scissors you can create a natural wave. By adding a piece of Gold Foil Sheet underneath and a die cut of the word celebrate, from the Celebrat You Thinlits Dies, on the top, you’ve basically completed the card. Quick, simple and elegant. Suitable for birthdays, weddings or any kind of anniversary.

However, just this card would be too basic for a workshop, so there was a second card to recreate.

Happy Birthday

This card is also based on something I spotted on Pinterest which was just too pretty to ignore. I did have some tweeks to make it more my own. To start with, the colour combination. The Original was green but I love the Pool Party in combination with the silver. Using the mini inkblending tools, we gave the background an ombre-effect. Hereby we kept the colour more concentrated on the bottom and lighter at the top of the pannel. To darken it up a bit more, we used some Bermudat Bay on the very bottom. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Eclectic Expressions set, from the 2nd Sale-a-bration releas. The ribbon is from the Original Sale-a-bration release. It is in a set with Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral Shimmer ribbon. This time, however, we used the Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon. The whole thing is matted on a piece of Pool Party and Basic Gray cardstock and just like that, you have a classy, masculine, birthday card.

More cards

Considering I was no where near finshed playing with this paper, I went on to make a couple more cards with the Springtime Foils paper.

For this card I fussy cut several of the leafy branches to spread them around the card. Following the rule of three, the Springtime Foils leaves guide your eyes around the card. The extra layers of silver paper underneath the circle with the sentiment, give it a nice place to rest. By using the splatter stamp from the Eclectic Expressions set, I gave the background a bit more interest. Finally I just added a bit of bling from my stash to finish the card. This too is a reasonably simple card, however the fussy cutting took up too much time, to be suitable for a quick workshop.

I also wanted to play with my ink blending tools again to make the dotted background more festive. I used Calypso Coral, Pumkin Pie and Melon Mambo. The colours lost quite a bit of their intensity which made them match perfectly on a Peekabo Peech card base. On some Whisper White cardstock I stamped several party sqeakers in Crushed Curry, Peekaboo Peach, Berry Burst, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. The sentiment was initially stamped in Melon Mambo, but even after stamping it a second time it was not quite legable enough. I stamped it a third time in Berry Burst and now I was happy with it. I stuck the sqeakers down with some Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue and attached the pannel to the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What wonderful paper! You can do so much with it. If you still want to get some, then today is your absolute last chance to place a €60 order and qualify for chosing the Springtime Foils paper as a free Sale-a-bration gift. Beware that you will have to pay some delivery costs. All the information regarding those costs can be found on my ‘Ordering’ page.

Springtime Foils participant gift

Hello Peeps,

When I get the opportunity to prepare a workshop for you, it is my goal to make sure everyone invited experiences it as a party. Of course it is set up as a fun experience by having a good time and crafting some pretty things with your friends, but it’s even better when there is a little gift waiting for you when you enter the hosts home.

As you may have read before, it was love at first sight with the Springtime Foils paper. And because of it’s thickness, it seemed like a smart choice to use this specific paper to make small packages for lipbalm, for each of the participants of last Saturday’s workshop.

The design of the box was quite simple. By folding the sides in, a container arises in the bottom, which neatly houses the lipbalm. The mini paperclip holds the box closed. I cut the cirkcle shape using a  die from the Build a Bike Thinlits set (Annual Catalogue page 213). It is actually meant to cut out the wheel from the Bike Ride set (Annual Catalogue page 20). Using the Hexagon punch (from a couple of years ago) I cut out a pretty label to glue on top of the circle. I used a sentiment from the Jar of Love Stamp set (annual catalogue page 29) and silver heat embossed it. The leaves are also from the Jar of Love set. By gold heat embossing those I was able to mimic an element from the Specialty Designer Series paper so it all matched. I attached the hexagon to the golden circle with a Stampin’ Dimensional and slid the label under the paperclip.

Out of a single piece of Springtime Foils paper I was able to get 4 of these boxes. By making this project in assembly line style, I was able to finish them in a jiffy If you want to make similar boxes, or something else intirely from this paper, keep in mind that it is only temporarily available. It is a Sale-a-bration product that you can add for free to any order of €60 or more. Sale-a-bration lasts until March 31st 2018.

What would you make from this beautiful paper? I would love to read all about it in the comment section below this post.

Coffee and a card

Posted on

Hello Peeps,

Sale-a-bration 2018 has almost come to an end. This is the last month in which you get to choose a free product from the Sale-a-bration brochure or flyer when you place an order of € 60,- or € 120,-. So if you have anything on your wish list, order them this month if you want to take advantage of the promotion. Also keep in mind that if you want the ink refills to the 2016-2018 in-colors, to not wait too long. These colours will get changed again with the new catalogue and will no longer be available. Seeing as they will probably run out of stock before the new catalogue is released, you should get them now, while they are still available.

If you have no idea as to what is in the Sale-a-bration brochure, click on this link for an overview of PDFs of the different catalogues and brochures. Alternatively, you can enroll for the ‘coffee and a card’-afternoon that I’m hosting at my house on Sunday March 25th 2018.

I have room for 6 participants so enroll quickly by using the contact page or leaving a message beneath this blogpost. First come, first serve.

Whilest enjoying a cup of coffee (or tea) you get to make a card with the Springtime Foils paper from the Sale-a-bration brochure.

Should you have any questions of want to place an order, you absolutely can. If you just want to take advantage of the opportunity to try out Stampin’ Up products and/or try card making, that’s fine too.

I look forward to greeting you on March 25th.

See you soon,

Leonie

Springtime Foils birthday cards

Posted on

Hello Peeps,

The minute I saw the picture of the Springtime Foils paper, I was sold. As a demonstrator I was able to pre order it and so I took advantage of that straight away. The paper is even prettier in real life. It is very thick and has beautiful patterns on it in gold, silver and rose gold. You can leave the patterns as they are or you can alter them by colouring them with for instance alcohol markers. I immediately wanted to colour the flower print. I was afraid I wouldné work with just ink and a waterbrush because the paper has a coating. Therefor it was a pleasant surprise to find out it took the colour of the waterpaint beautifully and it didn’t just wipe away. The effects were quite stunning because the paper absorbed the paint quite well. Now I just needed to fussy cut the flowers and use them in a card design. With some help from Pinteres, I made these 3 cards.

The cards are all made the same way, as you can sse. The cardbase is a piece of coloured cardstock. For 2 of the cards it is a former in-color, Crisp Cantaloupe, and the third is Pink Pirouette, one of the colours from the Subtles family. On a scrap of Whisper White, I stamped the sentiments from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set in the matching ink. To make the white pop of the background I made a mat for each of the sentemints from some Made by ME Metallic paper in gold and pink. I used the CreaLies NestXXL nr 33 cirkeldies to cut everything to size. I cut some extra pieces of Springtime Foils paper to make the panels for the top and bottom of the card. The flowers were attached using some Stampin’ Dimensionals to give the card some depth.

In my opinion they turned out to be 3 very elegant cards. And I still have lots of paper left over to play with!

If you want a pack like this filled with 12 sheets of 30,5×30,5cm Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper, you can add them to your order when you place and order of €60,- or more. The pack contains 3 sheets of 4 different designs. So you get quite a good amount of paper. Beware that this is a temporary Sale-a-bration promotion, which ends 31 March 2018.
