Santa Gift Tags

Hello Peeps,

As promised, here are the gift tags made with the Santa set by My Favorite Things called Jingle All The Way. From the first time I layed eyes on this set, I adored these Santa images. I stamped all the images with VersaFine Onyx Black ink on Crafter’s Companion Neenah Classic Crest Card in Solar White and coloured everything using colour combinations from two different paper pads. After that, I cut the images using the matching dies and turned them into gift tags.

This is the first set:

The paper that was the inspiration for this colour combination was from the DecoTime paper pad DS481-05. I used Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry, Evergreen Bough, Walnut Stain and Crushed Corduroy to colour the images. Next I cut them out using the matching dies and I cut tag shapes out of the DecoTime paper with the Lawn Fawn Tag, You’re It dies. I cut the reinforcers from some scraps from my stash. To finish them off, I stamped the sentiments from the Jingle All The Way stamp set in Coffee coloured Archival Ink by Ranger. However, the colour was too flat for my taste, so I triple stamped the sentiments. At the bottom of this blogpost you can see some more individual photo’s of the gift tags, but seeing as I made some more, I’d like to show you the second set now.

This set’s colour combination was also inspired by a DecoTime paper pad. This time it was DS481-01. To colour everything I used Stampin’ Up ink inWatermelon Wonder, Blushing Bride, Pool Party and Tip Top Taupe. The process was pretty much identical to that of the gift tags above. The DecoTime paper is cut with the Lawn Fawn Tag, You’re It dies, only this time using both sizes, and the reinforcers were cut once again from scraps. The images were cut out with the matching dies. This time, howerver, I chose to leave out the sentiments because the background papers were quite a bit busier.

Finally, I have one more set of Santa tags, but these are quite different. In my search for inspiration for using my coffee stamp set by Stampin’ Up I came across a card, where the maker had used the Coffee Cup Framelit dies, that coordinate with that stamp set, to make a Santa. So cute! However, seeing as I don’t need any Christmas cards this year, I decided to copy the puppets but turn them into tags instead.

I only used scraps to make these, as a project like this is ideal to do so. The body is the small coffee cup, the face is the shape of a clear plastic lid only upside down, the hat is the same shape only rightside up. The white edge of the hat is the regular plastic cup lid and the beard is made of the whipped cream die. The ball at the end of the had is one of the coffee beans. The nose is the heartshaped lidstopper and the belt is cut with the straw die and embellished with the teabag label as a belt buckle. The eye were made with the Owl Builder punch. After assembling the santa’s I glued them to a piece of cardstock that I had scored and folded on the top side. Now I could easily cut out the shape of the puppet and my tags were done.

Which tags do you like best? Set 1 with the sentiments, set 2 with the busy backgrounds or set 3 which was made by  using a die set completely different to how it was originally intended? I would love to read about it in the comment section at the bottom of the blogpost,

See you next time,

Leonie
