Hello Peeps,

Sale-a-bration

We’re almost half way through February and that means we’re also half way through the Sale-a-bration period. For those who aren’t familiar with Sale-a-bration, it is the best periode in the Stampin’ Up! year. The Spring/Summer catalogue had just launched and if that isn’t fun enough, there is a promotional period until March 31st during which you get to choose free items from the Sale-a-bration brochure when you spend €60 (or multiples of that amount). This year you get a choice of 6 different stamp sets when you spend €60 (one of which is also available in Dutch) or 1 stamp set when you spend €120. If you don’t want a stamp set, you could choose the wooden butterfly elements, beautiful Designer Series Paper, Foil Sheets of a card kit. The ribbons in the brochure have unfortunately been sold out already. In the €120 category there is also a framelits set that matches the Tea Together stamp set from the Srping/Summer catalogue. All in all there are plenty of reasons to get cracking on your wishlist.

Second release and Sale-a-bration coordination

As of today there will be a second sale-a-bration release consisting of a new stamp set or an embossing folder to choose with a €60 order or you can pick the bundle which consists of designer series paper with a matching stampset with a €120 order. In March some coordinating products to the Sale-a-bration stamp sets will be make available for purchase. This means that you will be able to buy matching dies to selected Sale-a-bration stamp sets in March. There will also be a new sentiment stamp set and a fabulous label punch available for sale then. These coordinating products will be available until March 31st 2019 or while supplies last.

Hello Cupcake

This week I’d like to share some cards I made with the Hello Cupcake stamp setl. This is one of the Sale-a-bration stamp sets and it was love at first sight. I love everything about this stamp set. The size of the cupcake is perfect regardsless of whether you want to create a card or a tag. The images are fun to stamp in a rainbow of colours but also gorgeous as a basic black impression which you can opt to colour. The sentiments are relevent to the images without being childish and the supporting images can be used in a variety of ways. For me, this was the number 1 choice of the Sale-a-bration brochure and I am far from done playing with it.

Black and white

For this first card, I stamped the cupcake image onto some Whisper White cardstock with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I went on to cut out the image with one of the round dies from the Layering Circle Framelits dies. Out of some Basic Black cardstock I cut the matching scalloped circle.so that it would have a nice contrast to the black and white dotted background paper. The dotted paper is from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper pack and is one of the free choices with a €60 purchase. All of the papers have a colourfull A-side and a black and white B-side. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White which I cut off diagonally and matted on some Basic Black cardstock. A quick, simple card suited to both men and women alike.

Colourful paterns

When I held the Garden Impressions paper in my hands for the first time I felt overwhelmed by the bold colours. The sheets were intensly bright dispite the smaller 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) size. I was rather intimidated but after playing with the different patterns, I feel confident in saying that this is really fun paper. For this card I used two different colours of patterned paper and matched the rest of the card to it. It is a lot calmer to the eye when you can only see a border.

Another way to break up the busyness is by splitting the patterns into smaller pieces. It is still a busy card but it isn’t overwhelming.

This card show a bit more. In the background I stamped a pattern with the smaller coordinating stamps. The Designer Series Paper brings the attention back to the middle of the card. The sentiment is stamped on some coloured cardstock because white would be too harsh. The cupcake itself is attached with some Dimensionals. To finish the card of I sprinkled on some sequins to tie everything together.

Masculine cupcake card

Just one more! Here I used the Tranquil Textures paper to determine the colour combination. You can see that is a nice masculine card dispite the bow and cupcake.

Happy Sale-a-bration

Hello Peeps,

Happy New Year!

The year 2019 has only just begun and we are already in the best time of the Stampin’ Up! year: Sale-a-bration. Until 31 March you earn free products for every €60 you spend. The products you can choose are shown in a seperate Sale-a-bration folder. On January 3rd the new occasions catalogue for the spring/summer season went live too. It will be valid until June 3rd and is packed full of wonderful products and beautiful examples with which you can create stunning projects. If you are interested in acquiring these books, let me know. If you prefer to download them, check out the links on this page.

Fiësta

To start the new year, launch the spring/summer catalogue and celebrate the start of Sale-a-bration, I hosted a fiësta last weekend. I prepared examples with every new stamp set I had acquired and decorated everything with a mexican themes undertone. This was completely inspired by the Flowering Desert stamp set from page 29 of the Spring/Summer catalogue.

I borrowed the sombrero my husband had bought on our holiday in Mexico, my mother had given me a drink dispenser in the shape of a cactus which I filled with green lemonade and I bought several cactus accessories to dress up the party. Of course I had some Mexican inspired food too: Nacho’s with salsa, guacamole and cheese dip as well as a plate with queso (that would be cheese). It was a fun afternoon and I’m certain that this will be another fabulous Stampin’ Up! year.

Flowering Desert

As I had already mentioned, I had made examples with all the stampsets that I have already acquired. To start with I want to show the samples using the Flowering Desert set, because this was the inspiration behind the fiësta.

I decorated a mini pizza box and inclueded a set of 4 mini cards. For this I used the 2018-2020 In Colors and some Mint Macaron ink. I used the rock & roll technique to add some shading to the cacti. The box is decorated with some paper from the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper and of course another cactus.

Next I made some simple cards using some ink blending techniques and second generation stamping. Also I made each of the cactus cards has a matching envelope.

Finally I decorated an aloe vera lipbalm for each of my guests with the large cactus image. For this I need to give a shout out to Suzanne Borghouts who lovingly helped to cut out the cacti.

Disclaimer: Some cards have been CASEd (inspired by/ made by example of) examples or sketches I found on Pinterest. I am not sure however which ones they are or who made the original inspiration. I had to make a lot of cards in a short period of time and I find it quicker to use some inspiration rather than to reinvent the wheel.

The coming period I will be sharing more of the examples I had made for the launch fiësta. If you wish to place an order after seeing the samples, I would love to help you with that. You can find more information on this page.

See you next time
